McCartney Invitational Tournament 2024 - 11-12-13 October 2024

The McCartney Invitational Tournament in 2024 will be the 20th anniversary of this hugely poular event.

Established in 2004, the McCartney Invitational Tournament is the largest Junior Football tournament in Australasia, organised and run by a select few from Taupo AFC. Held in October each year it attracts over 120 nunior teams from all over New Zealand and Australia.

One of the original aims of the McCartney Invitational Tournament is to encourage participation from as many junior teams as possible. Especially those teams from newly formed or smaller clubs who often don't get the opportunity to participate in established events.

The tournament is a sell out each year. Teams are invited from a number of sources, from direct contact, from previous participants, and by referrals. The tournament caters for Grades 9 through to 15, with both girls and boys teams.

Originally a 2 day weekend tournament, covid restrictions had us move to a three day tournament, starting around 11am on Friday. This has worked well for a number of years and we have now adopted that format going forward.
